Hoyle, Tanner designed a superstructure replacement for the existing Route 44 Bridge over the Three Mile River. The replacement superstructure is comprised of weathering steel stringers and a cast-in-place concrete deck. The span is 18 meters with an approximate 33 degree skew.
The project also included roadway approach design improvements associated with the superstructure replacement. Included in the project design plans were: pavement structure, barrier, and drainage improvements along the approaches. Additional efforts required for traffic maintenance design and various property access issues. A new waterline was constructed on the upstream side of the bridge and supported by cantilevered structural steel supports.
