Project Summary

Hoyle, Tanner was selected to assist the City of South Burlington in a study of potential stormwater treatment opportunities within the Centennial Brook watershed. The objective of this Williston Road stormwater treatment project is to capture and treat stormwater runoff from a portion of Williston Road and the surrounding commercial properties near the I-89 exit 14 interchange in the City of South Burlington. Currently, stormwater runoff from these impervious surfaces is predominantly untreated prior to flowing into Centennial Brook, which has been identified as principally impaired due to the discharge of stormwater runoff. The City of South Burlington wanted to identify and design a stormwater treatment alternative, in accordance with the Vermont Stormwater Management Manual and the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation Engineering Feasibility Analysis procedures, in an effort to improve the existing stormwater quality and quantity problems in this area. Hoyle, Tanner is utilizing ArcGIS 9 for identification of alternative treatment locations and other project mapping needs. This project is being partially funded through a SAFETEA grant, administered through the Vermont Agency of Transportation (Vtrans).
