Project Summary

The existing 24′ single-span concrete T-beam bridge was severely deteriorated and required replacement. The replacement structure is a 51′ long, single-span steel stringer and concrete deck structure¬†supported by cast-in-place concrete cantilever abutments that were constructed behind the existing abutments to allow for uninterrupted brook flow and minimize environmental impacts.

The abutting roadway improvements included horizontal and vertical alignment improvements as well as reconfiguration of the adjacent intersection of South River and Thunder Mountain Roads. Roadway surface, base material, barrier and drainage improvements were also made and utility conflict identification and resolution services were also provided. The associated services included permitting, public presentations, and construction phase services. Stage 2 construction was utilized to maintain traffic during construction as well as access to local driveways and Thunder Mountain Road.
