Project Summary

The project involved the rehabilitation of Bridge No. 138/110. This bridge was originally constructed in 1939. Aside from the replacement of approach guardrails, pavement overlay and repainting of the steel stringers, little had changed with regard to the structure in nearly 70 years. This project was initiated due to the bridge being on the NHDOT Redlist. The existing concrete deck required replacement and it was determined that stringer replacement was prudent due to section loss at the bearings. The design included a bare concrete deck, welded steel plate girders and abutment modifications.

An expedited design was performed to comply with funding requirements. Hoyle, Tanner performed the design from Notice to Proceed to completion in three months. The project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget.
