Project Summary

Under a previous grant, a structural and cost analysis was performed on the Navy’s formerly-used fire station building. It was determined that it was not cost effective to make the structural changes necessary to renovate the building to house the larger equipment. It was recommended that a new Snow Removal Equipment (SRE) building be designed and constructed.

This project includes the design of a SRE storage building to be located in the southeast corner of the paved apron. Comprised of a total of four new bays and 6,500 SF of new space, this facility will incorporate sustainable design initiatives and provide MRRA with a long awaited facility to protect their equipment investment. The recently acquired four FAA funded equipment pieces are currently stored in airport hangars. By removing the equipment from these hangars, the airport will make space available for future and existing tenants.
