Project Summary

Hoyle, Tanner completed the design and construction services for the construction of a new bridge and roadway over an active railroad. The project included a new 170′ single span weathering steel plate girder structure with a composite concrete deck supported by MSE abutments. The bridge provides 22′-6” minimum of vertical clearance over the railroad. The roadway approaches are new construction and include accommodation of private natural gas, electric, telephone, and cable utilities as well as public sewer and water. A new sewer pump station was designed as part of the project. Hoyle, Tanner provided all project management, bridge, roadway and utility engineering. Hoyle, Tanner also coordinated necessary permits with the Army Corps of Engineering, EPA, NHDES and FAA.

Hoyle, Tanner provided all construction contract administration services for this project including contractor contract preparation, bond and insurance review, shop drawing review, on-call design consultation, and contractor invoice review and negotiation. Construction engineering responsibilities included daily reports, oversight of subcontractors, coordination with the owner and contractor, coordination with the contract administrator, review of environmental permit compliance, measurement of quantities, negotiation of change orders, and resolution of disputes.

The completed project facilitated the construction of a new manufacturing facility expected to employ 400 to 500 high-skilled workers.
