Project Summary

The project consists of complete reconstruction of a 2,400 foot segment of historic Court Street including the reconstruction of the Middle Street intersection. The project separated the combined sewer and stormwater system which have extended the project limits approximately 560 feet along Rogers Street, 200 feet along Marcy Street, and 175 feet along State Street in order to outlet the proposed storm water systems into South Mill Pond and the Piscataqua River. The roadway reconstruction consisted of full box replacement, granite curbing, patterned brick sidewalks, and period lighting. The project included an extensive public participation process with a Project Advisory Committee and an active Portsmouth community. The environmental documentation and permitting process was also extensive as it included historic buildings, an African-American cemetery, a cistern, wetlands, and parklands. The project was designed as two separate construction contracts.
