As a Senior Construction Technician you will:
- Perform field observation and inspection of infrastructure projects under the direct supervision of a Project Manager/Contract Administrator/Senior Resident Engineer
- Record site observations in daily reports and promptly report issues and discrepancies to supervisory personnel
- Read and understand Contract plans, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, and special provisions
- Conduct field testing of construction materials and report on test results
- Produce simple drawings, tracings, maps, and technical computations to describe and report on observed construction operations
- Use engineering tools such as transit level, rotary laser, GPS or others to measure and verify installed construction quantities
- Use good judgement and supervisory guidance for limited field changes according to prescribed policies and procedures and with input from direct supervisors
- Be actively involved with the client and contractor in resolution of any discrepancies or construction issues
- Document observed field conditions
- Be familiar with the construction schedule and be able to anticipate deadlines and conflicts
- Develop and review contractor progress payments
- Identify areas of improvement and regularly share best practices and/or process improvements
- Obtain a specialized skill in a subject matter or application to enhance performance and efficiency in the senior construction technician ‘s role
Minimum Qualifications:
- HS Diploma and 10 years of experience in a Construction Testing or Inspection role OR
- AS with a major study in engineering, construction management, or environmental studies and 3-5 years of experience in a Construction Testing or Inspection role
- Valid driver’s license
