$1.95 BILLION FAA EXTENSION BILL PASSED Hoyle, Tanner’s Dale A. Wilde, recently selected to serve as 2009 CY ACC Legislative & Regulatory Affairs Committee Chair, was part of the recent legislative outreach delegation meeting in Washington, DC Hoyle, Tanner’s Aviation Services Group Business Development and Planning coordinator, Dale Wilde, currently serves as Vice Chair of the Airport Consultants Council’s (ACC) Legislative & Regulatory Affairs Committee. Dale recently attended an ACC delegation meeting in Washington, DC with House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Jim Oberstar, as well as key House and Senate staff from the Finance and Transportation Infrastructure Committees. The focus of the delegation meeting was a legislative outreach regarding the FAA reauthorization. The topic of concern was how airport development projects are being impacted by the delay and repeated short-term continuing resolutions in reauthorizing FAA as well as stressing the importance of increasing the current PFC levels to reflect the pace of inflation and the need for a qualification based selection (QBS) process for PFC funded projects. Also, high aviation fuel prices and airline cutbacks were discussed as contributing factors to the instability in the aviation industry at this time. An urgent message was expressed to Chairman Oberstar to pass an FAA extension bill which would provide long term funding to airports in order to keep projects moving forward. This bill was passed and signed by President Bush at the end of September. The bill provides $1.95 billion in Airport Improvement Program (AIP) contract authority to the FAA through March of 2009. The ACC legislative committee will continue its dialog with the House and Senate members until a complete reauthorization bill is passed.
