Hoyle, Tanner To Provide Traffic Analysis, Traffic Control Design, & Roadway Design Necessary for the Preliminary Design of the Rehabilitation of the New Castle-Rye Bridge Carrying NH Route 1B Over The Little River

Hoyle, Tanner, teamed with HDR, is pleased to announce our selection by the NHDOT to provide preliminary design phased services.  The overall task is to study rehabilitation alternatives for the bridge structure located in the Towns of New Castle and Rye.  This structure is a six-span (253-foot long), steel grid deck movable lift bridge built in 1942 located within a causeway that provides one of only two points of access to Great Island.  Due to the limited number of access roads to Great Island, this bridge rehabilitation will require intense outreach and communications to address very real and complex community access issues for vehicles, pedestrians, and waterway users that bridge and road construction work present.

Changing the traffic pattern and mobilizing construction equipment onto this locally important and narrow critical link will certainly attract attention of an influential and close knit island community.  Innovative thinking in coordination with the communities will be needed for the development of viable alternatives.

For this project, our professional staff at Hoyle, Tanner will provide support to HDR Engineering, Inc. and look forward to continuing our long standing professional relationship with the NHDOT.
