Hoyle, Tanner's Nichole Davis Avoids Being "Locked Up"

In order for staff member, Nichole Davis, to avoid being locked up on August 18, the judge set her bail; the “Lock Up” is part of the Muscular Dystrophy Associations annual “Lock Up for Jerry’s Kids®”.  The goal of this year’s campaign was for each participant to raise funds for two children to attend the MDA’s summer camp.  

In the weeks preceding the lock up, she worked hard at collecting her bail money.   Not only did she perform the standard requests for donations, she then went above and beyond, putting her baking talents to work and offering a wide variety of homemade cupcakes, éclairs, and whoopee pies with all funds collected going towards her bail.  On the day her warrant was to be executed, Nichole turned herself in with $988 in hand.  The judge paroled her right away!

From Nichole herself:

“Walking in to see the judge with more than enough money to send one child to camp for a whole week was an astonishing feeling.  Without the generosity of my peers, that could not have been possible; thank you to all those who were able to help make this year’s MDA drive a success.” 

Donations to this event help MDA’s summer camp program.  Since 1955, MDA has built bridges and knocked down barriers for youngsters with muscular dystrophy and related diseases by providing an unforgettable week at MDA summer camp.  Each year, MDA supports some 90 summer camps across the country.  Whether in Alaska, Hawaii, California or New York, barriers simply don’t exist.  A child with a disability can just be a child among friends.  Youngsters attend summer camp at no cost to their families.  Go to www.mda.org to learn more about how you can get locked up and help the fight against this disease!
