April was an extremely rewarding month for Hoyle, Tanner’s Bridge and Structures Group (BSG).  We are pleased to announce that we were selected for a Plan NH Merit Award for the Haverhill-Bath Covered Bridge Rehabilitation project.  According to Plan NH, “these awards are given to completed projects that exemplify Plan NH’s mission of supporting and preserving the quality of life in New Hampshire’s communities through excellence in sustainable planning and design – and their execution – in community development”.  This is the second bridge award Hoyle, Tanner has received through this program with the first being the Slate Covered Bridge in Swanzey, NH in 2004.  Sean T. James, P.E. was the Project Manager of both of these prized projects.  A well attended banquet was held in Manchester, NH to recognize the award-winning projects.

We were also informed that two Hoyle, Tanner projects were selected for the Historic Preservation Achievement Awards by the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance: the first being the Henniker Ramsdell Road Truss Bridge Rehabilitation and the second, the Haverhill-Bath Covered Bridge Rehabilitation.  Matthew J. Low, P.E. (Manager of the Bridge and Structures Group) and Sean T. James, P.E. were the Project Managers for each of these projects, respectively.  A banquet was held in Concord, NH to recognize the award-winning projects by the Preservation Alliance.

Hoyle, Tanner’s historic bridge restoration projects have been selected for 11 awards of recognition.  These awards are a testament to the hard work and dedication of Hoyle, Tanner’s bridge engineering staff for yielding not only practical bridge rehabilitation designs, but the sustainable restorations of these important structures.
